Where Do Leaves Belong?

This morning Scout went to the fridge to get something, and she saw my bay leaves sitting on the bottom shelf. She has them in her little hand when she walks in the living room, and here is the conversation

Me: "Scout, go put my leaves back in the fridge please."

Scout with a look of confusion: "but, leaves need to go outside."

Me: "No, those are used to cook with, and they stay in the house."

Scout: "No, they go outside."

Me: "Yes, usually, but I need those for cooking."

Scout turns and puts them back in the fridge, but seemed confused. Yes, she is right leaves do go outside, but those ones go in my food!!
